It took a lot from Allison to mentally prepare for the second date. After a week with 3 exams and little sleep, and a shaky first date with Charles where he tried to grab her hand during the melodramatic scene where Iron Man died and then pretended to get lost on the way home so he could talk to her more, the second date almost never happened.
Neither of them had been axe throwing before so going to Bury the Hatchet with a bottle of Malbec was a risky call by Charles after how their first date went. Turns out, axe throwing is just like beer pong where the more you drink, the better your hand eye coordination gets. Charles won the axe throwing tournament against seasoned regulars. Allison still has the slow-mo vision of Charles’ hunky arms finessing axes to land on the bull’s eye and then the smaller target in the upper corner worth 10x points.
Let’s be real, that vision is in Charles’ head but he did win the tournament which also won him a third date. The third date was similar to the second, because Charles axed Allison to be his girlfriend (or so he thought). To this day, however, Allison never recalls being asked by Charles to make it official. In fact, she kept on seeing other guys for months and is still waiting for Charles to ask to this day. Luckily, Charles still made it pretty far and never became just an ax-boyfriend. When Charles eventually got on his knees to ask Allison to be his wife, the question wasn’t as vague. Thank you for reading this far, we hope you enjoy the wedding!

Alex manages money he doesn’t own. His favorite memory with Charles is an epic bb-gun fight they had in Charles’ backyard. Charles conceded in 5 seconds.
Jennifer is a PhD student studying at the University of Florida. Her favorite memory with Allison was their very first trip together. They visited Chicago during Thanksgiving break and being the huge foodie Allison is, she marked dozens of cafes, restaurants, and bakeries to visit. However, after they landed and roamed the streets for hours, they settled for a 3-course meal at McDonalds because that’s the only place open on Thanksgiving day.
Tai is a litigation associate at a law firm in New York. His favorite memory of Charles is playing basketball with him in between classes in high school, and wondering why the 6-footer (who was a foot taller than most on the court) insisted on only shooting threes from the perimeter.
Suyeon (Ella) is sister of the bride and an ophthalmologist who works in Long Island. Her favorite memory is almost making Allison go blind when she thought their pet turtle had laid eggs and made Allison run over to check. This resulted in Allison getting stabbed in the left eye by the nearby planter stand. 👁 …..and after stabbing her sissy in the eye, Suyeon found a passion for eyeballs and pursued ophthalmology.
Sol is a project manager for a tech company but deep down is just a fun-loving nerdy dude who loves to drink flavored soju and eat jwipo (dried filefish) with Charles. His favorite memory with Charles will always be hanging out in DC one summer because despite knowing Charles for so long it was one of the few times they got to candidly bromance together. Also, Charles was as big as the Hulk during that summer.
Sally is a dentist doing a general practice residency in Hackensack, New Jersey. Her favorite memories with Allison are using her headphones to play limbo during first year of dental school, being terrified of cooking live crabs, overlooking London in the London Eye, and being stranded hotel-less in Miami.
Andrew was Charles’ roommate for 3 unpredictable years during their residencies and applies steroids and Botox for a living. All of his favorite memories with Charles can’t be stated publicly so he’ll say it was when they started their home gym during the pandemic without enough weights so they had to push down on the bar for each other to defeat atrophy.
Kaitlyn is an orthodontics resident in New York. Her favorite memory with Allison is when she dragged Allison along with two other girls to watch a Tottenham vs. Arsenal game at Wembley stadium, and it turned out to be the best trip of her life.
Zack deals drugs (legally). He’s been a friend of Charles since they were in homeroom together freshman year of high school. His favorite memory of Charles is when he came snowboarding for the first time wearing jeans and no gloves. There were blue streaks all across the bunny slope from his soaked jeans.
Katalina is an orthodontics resident in New York.
Her favorite memory with Allison is Odontoblast! Where they first met. Every winter is a friendsversary!
Dan is husband to Trina, father to Cate in heaven, NJ native, Hawaiian wannabe. Dan cooked bulgogi for Charles on Wednesday nights during his first year in Philly. Supper was always burnt, but Charles never said it tasted bad. What a classy guy.
Maggi is an oral and maxillofacial surgery resident in Baltimore. Her best memories with Allison are getting stranded hotel-less in Miami, getting free daily puppy therapy and late night snacking… “studying”!!
